The Guthrie wing of King's College
Hospital is dedicated to the care of private patients. Any profits
are re-invested into King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
King’s has a long tradition of performing obesity surgery for morbid obesity. Bariatric surgical procedures have been performed here since the late 1980’s. All forms of bariatric surgery are performed at King’s. Laparoscopic gastric banding can be performed in the day unit. The laparoscopic gastric bypass, laparoscopic duodenal switch and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy are performed as in-patient procedures. The majority of operations performed to date have been the laparoscopic gastric bypass.
All rooms on the Guthrie wing have en-suite toilets, many with their own shower or bath. Each room has remote-control television, a small fridge and direct dial telephone.
